Juutalaisuhrien muistomerkki / Memorial to the Jewish victims of Nazi Germany
Artist Harry Kivijärvi
Malminkatu 26, Kamppi, Helsinki
The memorial, realized together with Sam Vanni, a well-known Finnish-Jewish artist, is located in the courtyard of the Helsinki Jewish congregation. The memorial comprises a stone slab whose impressions and bulges refer to people’s striving to leave a mark of their fight. The slab’s shape slopes increasingly towards its edges, creating a sense of continuity. A text in Hebrew is inscribed underneath the granite slab. The work was erected in 1970.
The work doesn’t belong to the City of Helsinki’s art collection, which is managed by HAM.
