Baltic Sea Day 28.8.2025 11:30 - 14:00 A documentary about the making of the Zostera Marina’s song of increase by the artist duo LOCUS. The film is produced by John Nurminen Foundation. LOCUS’s new commission for Helsinki Biennial 2025 is dedicated to a species of seagrass native to the Baltic Sea: common eelgrass (Zostera Marina). The artists envisage a hopeful, speculative, utopian future for the common eelgrass. The film will be screened non-stop in the HAM Hall from 11:30 to 14:00. The Baltic Sea Day, launched and coordinated by the John Nurminen Foundation, is celebrated every year on the last Thursday in August with various rallies and events. The goal of the theme day is to highlight important marine themes, and encourage people to take concrete action for the Baltic Sea. The Day celebrates the versatility and immeasurable value of the Sea. Moreover, the celebration seeks to disseminate information on marine nature, culture, and history. In 2025 the Baltic Sea Day is celebrated on August 28th. www.balticseaday.fi Events Included in the admissionNight of the Arts14.8.2025 11:00 - 20:00 Read more Art workshopIncluded in the admissionOpen Saturday Workshop: Clay House – clay modelling25.10.2025 12:00 - 15:00 Read more Art workshopIncluded in the admissionOpen Saturday Workshop: Moomin Figure – clay modelling6.9.2025 12:00 - 15:00 Read more
