Alfa

Artist Antero Toikka

Kukkaniityntie 25, Helsinki

Antero Toikka’s steel sculptures in eastern Helsinki – the blue Omega and the red Himmeli – were joined by the yellow Alfa to celebrate the new millennium. Toikka’s works painted in primary colours are placed about one kilometre apart near Itäkeskus within a triangular area. Rising to the height of seven metres, the yellow Alfa is located in a nameless meadow next to Myllymestarintie in the Puotinharju/Vartiokylä area. The location is not yet finalised. Alfa is made of similar steel rail as Himmeli, and the length of its sides is twice the diameter of Himmeli (2 x 3.40 m).

The work doesn’t belong to the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum.
