Sairaanhoito / Nursing

Artist Gunnar Finne

, Helsinki

“Nursing” is a tile relief created by Gunnar Finne depicting an sick man sitting and a woman nursing him. The relief was finished just before the Winter War.

Finne applies symbolism in the posture of the figures and in the oil lamp carried by the woman to portray knowledge and salvation. Finne applied the same material in, for example, his “Nectar of Life” relief located in Salmisaari.

The work doesn’t belong to the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum.
