The Summer Garland

Artist Diane Maclean

, Helsinki

The Summer Garland by the British artist Diane Maclean was originally placed in the yard of the National Museum for the duration of the Helsinki Festival. According to the artist herself, the work is largely based on contact to Nature. There is a link between the diversity of Nature and the entities formed by its elements and the entities made by human hand. The best way to experience the piece and the space it creates is to circle around the work and enter the space it limits.

The piece was placed in Kivelä hospital area in autumn 1996. The work is damaged and has been removed. It was made of painted steel.
