Too Heavy Guest

Artist Maria Duncker

, Helsinki

Maria Duncker’s Too Heavy Guest stands in front of the Annantalo building in Helsinki. Assembled from large blocks of stone, the artist has found animal features in the figure. The two smallest blocks are feet, the largest is the torso, and the block on top is the head. The figure now wears a necklace of colourful beads in replacement of the original crystal glass beads. The piece is about 180 cm tall. It belongs to the collections of the Helsinki Art Museum.

Another art work by Duncker, Too Heavy Guests, is located in Salmisaarenranta. The work consists of six similar figures.

The work belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.
