© Photo: HAM Helsinki Art Museum Viestejä varjageilta / Messages from Varyags Artist oppilaat Vartiokylän ylä-asteen , Helsinki The installation entitled Messages from Varyags on the wall of the platform at Puotila metro station was made by a group of pupils from the 7th grade in Vartiokylä upper secondary school under the supervision of their teacher. The refreshing symphony of colour and light is created by 27 Plexiglas plates painted the colours of the rainbow, with light coming through the glass walls from outside the station. The work alludes to the history of the area and the nearby Linnavuori hill, where warning fires were lit in the age of the Vikings. The work doesn’t belong to the City of Helsinki’s art collection, which is managed by HAM. Read more.. At map
