HAM Helsinki Art Museum is one of the most significant art museums in Finland and the Nordic region. It looks boldly towards the future and aims to create meaningful experiences for its audiences through its activities.

HAM has an extensive international exhibition program and a collection of over 11 000 artworks, including the City of Helsinki’s public art collection. HAM is responsible for the Helsinki Art Collection, commissions new public artworks and acquires both Finnish and international art. In addition, HAM curates and produces the Helsinki Biennial and serves as the regional art museum for Uusimaa.

HAM is a foundation-based organisation and part of the City of Helsinki Group.

We are now looking for a new colleague to join our team.

REGISTRAR

Permanent, full-time position. Starting date: May 2026, to be agreed.

In this role, you work at the operational core of HAM’s technical productions. You are responsible for the technical and logistical aspects of exhibition coordination including transport, scheduling and insurance matters, and you coordinate collection logistics, loans and acquisitions. You will work with international lenders, artists and transport partners as part of HAM’s extensive international exhibition programme, including the Helsinki Biennial.

Your work ensures that artworks move safely, documentation is accurate and timelines are met.

You will be part of the Technical Production team, working closely with technicians, conservators and other registrars, as well as collaborating with other teams across HAM. You will actively contribute to developing the team’s ways of working and contribute to building clear, sustainable practices that support the wider organisation.

About you

You are comfortable taking responsibility for defined processes and seeing them through from start to finish. You aim for clarity in your work and help create it when situations become complex.

You have excellent interpersonal skills, and you communicate openly and raise questions when something is unclear. You address potential issues early and are willing to test new solutions when existing practices no longer serve the work.

You handle peak periods and installation phases with resilience and steadiness.

You understand that your role supports the wider technical production team. You listen to the needs of internal colleagues and external stakeholders and translate those needs into realistic schedules and workable plans for the team.

You recognize that careful coordination serves the exhibition as a whole and the artistic intentions behind it. An interest in modern and contemporary art gives context to your work.

We expect

  • Relevant higher education degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in coordinating complex logistical processes (e.g. loans, transport, exhibitions, cultural production or similar)
  • Ability to manage multiple parallel timelines with accuracy
  • Experience handling documentation, contracts, insurance matters and other structured administrative processes
  • Strong written and spoken English, moderate written Finnish

We consider an Advantage

  • Experience in museum collection processes
  • Experience in exhibition production
  • Familiarity with project planning tools
  • Experience working with art institutions and artists

We offer you

  • A meaningful role at the core of contemporary exhibitions, working closely with inspiring artistic content
  • A professional environment where you can grow through responsibility and real-world production challenges
  • Lunch, commuting and culture/sports benefits
  • Occupational healthcare services
  • Flexible working hours in a role primarily based on-site

Salary: 3227,28 €/month

Working hours: 36:15 h/week
