Coral-Mural

Markus Rissanen

Päiväkoti Koralli, Punakiventie 12, 00980 Helsinki

Indoor Sculpture

Markus Rissanen’s (b. 1973, Kuopio) work in Koralli Daycare Centre consists of two parts: a mural and a colour pattern on the floor. The floor pattern is made from coloured linoleum that has been cut into concentric rings. The rings continue up the folding doors and create the illusion of a continuous space. The painting on the doors features giraffes, butterflies and penguins under the boughs of fairy tale-esque trees.

The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme. The wall painting belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.
