Kuvasto Life Arc Niran Baibulat Riistavuoren palvelukeskus, Isonnevantie 28, 00320 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture Life Arc by Niran Baibulat (b. 1960, Tampere) is mounted on a wall in the service centre’s assembly hall. The work is made up of interlinked bracelet-like cylinders. Together, the circlets of different colours create a raster image of a rainbow against a background of grey clouds and rain and partly illuminated by the sun. The artist is fascinated by the rainbow, a phenomenon produced by the interplay of rain and light. An arc of cheerful, bright colours in a landscape is always a surprising view. Baibulat is also intrigued by the universality of the rainbow – a visual motif that appears even in children’s drawings is both familiar and unknown. In this work, the rainbow symbolises life. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum. At map
