Seven Brothers’ Tableware

Nora Tapper

Pukinmäenkaaren peruskoulu, Kenttäkuja 12, 00720 Helsinki

Indoor Sculpture

Seven Brothers’ Tableware by Nora Tapper (b. 1961 Konginkangas) consists of hand-formed ceramic vessels sitting on shelves of different sizes made of aspen. On some shelves sits a stack of objects, on others just one. The forms of the vessels are deliberately primitive and rough, their surface treated with various methods, including smoke and glaze. The objects are also of differing sizes, their heights varying from 10 to 60 cm. The work is installed on the wall of the dining room and can be viewed from different angles. From below one can see the bottoms of the vessels, while from above one can see the insides.

The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.
