Kuvasto Work and Leisure Sanna Sarva Laajasalon terveysasema, Koulutanhua 2, 00840 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture Sanna Sarva (b. 1964) photographed social and health workers for her commissioned installation Work and Leisure at the Laajasalo Health Centre. The work comprises photo portraits of four persons, two different versions of each. Hung in pairs, they show the same person in both a professional capacity and privately in leisure time. A social worker is shown in discussion with a client and with a horse in her free time; a dentist is photographed at work and on the tennis court. A midwife attends a prayer circle in her free time, and a doctor balances his work with family and children. The work invites viewers – customers of the health centre – to see the person behind the professional role and offers a chance to identify with members of the staff. A key element in Sarva’s work was the interaction with and participation of employees in City of Helsinki social and health service centres. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum. At map
