Anna-Maria Osipow

Auroran sairaala, rakennus 16, Nordenskiöldinkatu 20, 00250 Helsinki

Indoor Sculpture

Anna-Maria Osipow’s (b. 1935, Sortavala) ceramic reliefs are located in Aurora Hospital building no. 16. The artist created multi-component reliefs for four closed wards. Measuring about two metres each, the reliefs feature plants, the sun and its rays, and waves. Small ceramic figures are also installed around the door buzzer outside the entrance. The ceramic pieces take their motifs from flowers used to designate the wards. Amaryllis, tulip and liverwort also appear in the reliefs inside the building.

The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.
