Kuvasto Cityscapes Minna Heikinaho Kallion virastotalo, Toinen linja 4 A, 00530 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture Minna Heikinaho’s (b. 1961, Somero) photographic work Cityscapes in the municipal office building in Kallio consists of 55 parts. It includes both stand-alone works and suites, such as Windows, Cityscapes, Urban Images, Leaves of Snow, Roses, City, Asphalts and Asphalt Rivulets. The images are digitally printed photographs, the largest 2.5 metres tall, the smallest 60 x 40 centimetres. The pictures are mounted on different floors of the office building. Heikinaho has photographed the urban environment from many perspectives. The pictures include street views and panoramas over the district of Kallio, as well as almost abstract close-up studies of surface details. In the latter, the artist has captured details from the walls and windows of the office building, surface textures, asphalt and frostbitten leaves on the ground. There are no people in the pictures, yet there are traces of human presence, such as patterns left on the ground by car tyres, traffic signs painted on the asphalt, and footprints in the snow. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum. At map
