Anne Siirtola’s (b. 1967) Eternal Light is a leaded stained-glass work installed in the window of the Puistola Comprehensive School lunch room. The colourful piece is based on a composition of round shapes with a circular rhythm and colours. The uppermost circle glows in the colours of the prism.

The artist chose leaded glass as her medium because it fits the space exceptionally well and can be observed from different directions. Leaded glass is a very slow and complex material to work with. Individually cut pieces of glass are joined using lead channels called cames. The joints between the cames are soldered and the cames patinated. After cementing, the components are assembled into a single work.

The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.
