Jouni Toni Stage Jouni Toni Päiväkoti Fallpakka, Fallpakankuja 9, 00970 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture Jouni Toni’s (b. 1984, Tampere) installation Stage consists of five wall paintings executed in acrylic. Two of them are painted on opposite walls of the daycare centre’s gym. They depict stands where a colourful crowd is cheering. The paintings underline the purpose of the gym as a stage for events of all kinds. They also cheer on children who are exercising or playing in the space, regardless of their performance. The paintings along the hallways on the upper floor offer glimpses into imaginary scenes, the interior of a forest and a city at night. The subject of the painting in the upstairs lobby is plants, in which, says the artist, “a spectrum of species and shapes aspires upwards as a single ecosystem”. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum. At map
