Kuvasto Untitled Marja Kanervo Auroran sairaala, rakennus 16, Nordenskiöldinkatu 20, 00250 Helsinki Indoor Sculpture In this work, Marja Kanervo (b. 1958, Mikkeli) uses glass and light to explore optics and image formation. The work is installed in interior windows found in the stairwell and between wards in Aurora Hospital building number six. Each window has about twenty small glass lenses suspended in front of it by nylon thread. As light entering through the exterior windows hits each lens, they project a tiny upside-down image of the outside view onto the sandblasted glass. The outside view is blocked by the matte glass of the interior windows, but it is reintroduced by the glass lenses and transformed into small, upturned fragments. The work was produced under the Percent for Art programme, and it belongs to the collection of the City of Helsinki, managed by HAM Helsinki Art Museum. At map
